We believe the principles of creating a healthy environment are just as applicable in the context of commercial buildings. Studies indicate that employees in such an environment are typically more productive, more alert and have fewer illness-related absences.

While what has become known as Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is not fully understood, it is recognised by bodies as diverse as The World Health Organisation, The NHS and The Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

There are many inter-related factors and potential causes involved in SBS, but our use of natural materials and the absence of toxic chemical treatments in our components can only be viewed as a positive advantage.

As Unison state in their health & safety practice guidelines for employers "SBS would not be a problem if architects and designers took into account the needs of workers when designing buildings."
